Robot vacuums have been around for quite a while (5-10+ years) and I decided to wait until the market was a little more established before taking the plunge and I also wanted good value for money!

The Tapo RV20 has so far proved to be the perfect buy and it has exceeded my expectations.

It’s easy to setup and mapping the downstairs floor area was pretty straight forward taking around 50-60 minutes for a full map out.
I use the RV20 to clean my entire downstairs floors daily. I have a mix of Amtico glue-down flooring, tiled flooring and a couple of mats for the vacuum to negoiate. The RV20 cleans the entire downstairs area (43m2) in around 50 minutes on a standard clean. Within the app you can configure for a more detailed clean in certain areas if you prefer but this will add to the clean time.

I have two cats and therefore cat fur is my biggest reason to purchase this vacuum and it’s been a total game changer.
The RV20 will negoiate around furniture no problem although having a clean floor space will improve the cleaning times.
Within the app you can mark-out areas on the mapped floor areas (and you will see these broken down into rooms which you can tweak, adjust, rename etc). You can set exclusion areas so for example we set one around the cat’s food dish and water bowl. Prior to setting this the vacuum would knock into the water dish spilling it then it would leave water marks wherever it went afterwards so this is something well worth setting up.

If you need to stop the vacuum you simply hit the pause button on the vacuum and if the battery is low the robot vacuum will stop the cleaning take itself of for a recharge and re-deploy once it has more charge!!..Amazing.

Once the clean it complete the vacuum returns to the charge station where is proceeds to empty the small waste collection bin into a filter collection bag in the main housing. It also reverses into location and starts charging.

This vacuum has dramatically reduced cleaning downstairs and we now only get the contentional vacuum out to clean the furniture.

Please bear in mind the vacuum will need some TLC every week or two. If the cat’s bring in any twigs these can snag inside the collection bin so this needs checking and there is a small dust filter in the RV20 that needs a clean and replace at some point in time. It can be cleaned out and so far this is what I’ve done.

So to sum up here the good points and a few negatives.

Easy to setup.
Hassle free. Set it up and forget about it.
The App integrates into Tapo standard APP so one app to see the vacuum status along side any Tapo doorbell /cameras/smart plugs etc you might have.
Battery lasts a good hour on a clean and takes care of recharging automatically.
Automatically and easily schedule cleaning processes
Keeps the cats amused whilst cleaning!

Negatives
It can be a little noisy.
The collection dust bag in the main body is small so replacement bags will needed frequently (It would be nice if they implemented a greener bag solution!)
The RV20 can occasional get stuck behind an obstable (not really sure this is the Vacuums fault).
Not sure this is the right solution if you have carpets

Just got it a few days ago and had 2 sessions with it. Impressive in terms of how it auto maps the rooms, floor, and identifies furniture, objects, etc. It picked up dusts and dog hairs well, and it felt good to walk on the cleaned floor. Will update if my opinion changes. So far, excellent product at this price point.

I’ve been curious about robot vacs for a while now, so when i saw the price of this i jumped on the deal and purchased it. First thoughts, very easy to setup with a quick app download and setup process, all explained clearly.

The vac did a cool drive around my house mapping all the walls and furniture in real time, which you can see on the app as it updates the in app map, after doing it’s tour it got to work! you can easily adjust the strength of suction in the app, plus you can control the level of water it uses if you are using it in mopping mode.

some quick info –

– Very thorough cleaning of my hard floors, with no dirt or bits left behind
– The mopping is surprisingly good, although you cannot use cleaning product, only water.
– Battery life is fantastic, it easily does my entire ground floor and uses not even half a charge
– It finds it’s way home to its dock to charge
– The dock is also a vacuum of sorts as it sucks out the collected dirt from the robot when charging
– App is very easy to use
-Functions perfectly out of the box

Tem um mês que o robô chegou e o único arrependimento foi não ter comprado antes. Pesquisei muito antes de comprar e tenho uma sugestão: comprei pelo vendedor original que é TPLink saiu uns 400$ mais caro do que em outras lojas, porém em todos os vídeos que assisti muitas pessoas não conseguiram assistência técnica por não ter comprado de vendedor autorizado, então acho que o preço a mais vale a economia de dor de cabeça. O robô funciona perfeitamente, chegou antes do prazo e bem embalado. Tem uma potência de aspiração muito boa, a função de limpeza úmida é razoável, o paninho apenas “arrasta” no chão, não tem a função mop. Moro em um apartamento de dois quartos e tenho um cachorro que solta muito pelo, coloco o robô para funcionar dia sim/ dia não e assim consigo uma ótima manutenção da limpeza, até hoje não teve nenhum problema. A primeira vez que ele mapeou o apartamento levou cerca de 50 minutos, as outras limpezas levam cerca de 35 minutos. O app é muito fácil de usar, você pode programar qual cômodo da casa limpar, paredes virtuais, programar limpezas. Muito intuitivo.
