I did not want to spend a lot on a mixer as I was unsure how often it would be used to justify a premium £300+ model. But I wanted one that was not too big for my small kitchen and lack of worktop and storage space and I wanted one to match my new kitchen and this pretty green drew me in!

I did read the reviews as I always do. My first use of it, was for a Marble cake. Now as you can hear in the video, it is a noisy little beggar! It does not have a quieter smooth sound as the top models do. I was also not sure if a 1300 W motor was adequate and perhaps it won’t handle pastry so well. I don’t know yet. Anyway, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and the cake turned out very well. The noise does not bother me – I can always just switch it on and go out of the kitchen for a few minutes! It looks nice and is a retro design. My main complaint is when I was creaming the room temp butter and sugar, I had to add some oil in which had not been part of the plan, and keep stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl and whisk, as it did not all blend in and although not as bad, the same occurred after adding other ingredients. It is inconvenient, but not as if this is something I will be using frequently and for the price, I can be more forgiving. If you are using it for a cake, make sure you have your silicone spatula to hand! Oh and another plus side, is a nice big bowl. I thought this machine was a bit lightweight, but so far has not made any difference. The splatter guard kind of gets in the way if you want to add stuff in whilst in operation as the feed hole is only so big. The attachments seem very light and I wonder how long they will last and hope the chrome coating does not deteriorate on the dough hook. Again, these are all fairly minor things. I think I will get enough use out of it and if in time think it is worthwhile, will eventually invest in one of the top brands. Otherwise, it is a good little gadget and hope it lasts beyond its guarantee. I would not recommend this for anyone who does a lot of baking. I might see if I can still purchase the extended warranty.
