Beautiful kettle. Easy to use temperature settings but slightly irritating sound when setting and starting. Might be possible to mute it. Also quite heavy and the water gauge being behind the handle instead of by the side means you can’t see how much it’s filled as you run the water into the kettle but after a while you can tell fairly well how much it contains by feel. There is a vague plastic smell but I guess that will go as it gets older. The price on Amazon was the best and John Lewis wouldn’t match the Amazon supplier’s price.

Looks nice but some key design flaws make this the worst product of all time
– very heavy so even if filling half way and using several times a day my wrist started to have pain after just a couple of days
– the button on the top to open the lid is awkward and barely works if hot, so you have to pick at it to get it open
– the steam burns your hand as your pour into the cup, poor seals or something means boiling hot steam rushes out the point right where the handle grip is – not good for a kettle
– makes annoying musician sounds
– have to press the button twice to boil (I guess so they can make use of the extra noises programmed into it) so many times you think it’s boiling only to discover you didn’t press twice
– costs at least 3x more than it should – although even for free this is still too expensive
Overall this is the worst product I’ve ever had the displeasure of buying and returning – it’s like a 1st prototype that should never have made it to production

We were not sure about spending this much on a kettle, but it is very good quality (I am a design engineer and appreciate good design and manufacturing)
it is quiet and the ability to set water temperature is very nice indeed – exspecially for coffee which. should use water at 90-95C, not boiling
Even the damping on the lid as it opens is very nice and gives a feeling of quality and attention to detail
