Got this as an empty unit as already had batteries and charger from other tools in the range so was a cheaper purchase.. used it to cut high shrubs and hedges in the garden, works well and is usual high quality product from Worx, easily adjustable with a decent reach cuts thru very thin branches but anything thicker it struggles a bit, could have done with having bigger gaps between the blades tbh however it’s a useful addition to the collection of other Worx cordless garden tools I’ve built up over several years.

After my Ryobi packed up i bought the Worx pole hedge trimmer. I consider the Worx much better than the Ryobi. It’s sturdier particularly on long reach, easier to use as it adjusts easily. I already had the batteries and was cheaper. Won’t cut anything bigger than my thumb but I have long reach pruning shears. Overall, a good product like most of the Worx kit. Might buy the chainsaw extension.

Best thing iv ever invested in. Light weight to begin with but it does weigh you down when cutting for longer periods. However my upper body strength isn’t the greatest! Every year I have to tackle the most longest hedges known to man due to poor upkeep on the other side! The ladders are getting a little scary for me so bought this bad boy! They glide through thin hedge branches but do struggle with thick so keep a electric or petrol trimmer to hand for those. It has cut down the workload massively. Came well packaged. Instructions are vague but its not rocket science to put together. All in all i can’t moan. Beats getting stabbed by hedges when leaning on the ladders!

This has been super useful for diy tree maintenance and general use. Long reach, good power, not too noisy and so far, reliable. Only negative is weight/balance of item when at full extension.

Weighing the box, “Oh, this doesn’t feel so bad.”
Unpacked the head and pole, “Yup, it’s light.”
After assembly, “Oof, this might be hard to use for long periods…”

Before I start, I’d just like to mention this is the first extendible pole trimmer I’ve used.

I already have a corded trimmer but it meant lugging around an old wooden ladder and positioning it in soil to deal with high hedges. So, I thought why not try a cordless pole trimmer? Gtech was out of my budget range even though it’s 1kg lighter than this and the cheaper ones that don’t have warranties are too likely to fail so, I went with this.

I did as much research as possible; reading reviews both on this site and more specialised sites as well as watch videos. A lot of them complain about these kind of trimmers being top heavy because of the motor at the end of the pole. Einhell has one at the handle but unfortunately it seemed to be corded only.

    Unpacking & Assembly
    =====================

On arrival, it’s in its original bright orange coloured brand box so everyone knows what you bought as with a lot of things these days. It was quite hard to open because the cellotape was all over the slots that you pull out to unpack.

Seemed light so far at 5kg.

Parts were easy to unpack mostly but again, some cellotape gets in the way when unwrapping the battery and charger so you had to be very careful when removing away the wrapping (well ok, you could just rip it apart too). The battery I had only had 1/3 charge on arrival so I charged it while I had a look at the trimmer itself.

Picking up the head again I thought, “Light enough…” Now at this point, I was puzzled why I couldn’t just slot the head into the main pole. There’s even a red sticker pointing downwards at the connection point! Checked the instructions and it seems I was doing everything right… Then I remembered one review on here “REMOVE THE CAP.”

So yes, remove the cap from the base of the head or it won’t fit. It is not in the instructions and it’s easy to think the down arrow means slot it into the pole while the cap is on.

After that, assembling the trimmer was pretty much complete while the strap easily clips into place.

    Actual Use
    ===========

As someone with a desk job and not a gym goer, it indeed feels top heavy as people say. It feels light when you’re holding the saw end directly in your hand but once held like a fishing pole you will most likely feel the strain. And this is without extending the pole!

What I did find was using the strap as leverage made it easier to hold. The strap lets you handle the trimmer like a see-saw so when you press down on the handle, it swings up and the strain ends up on your shoulder (you hardly feel it). Once I figured this out, extending it by 1m was still manageable. Despite that, I found myself leaving it on the ground to take the occasional short break before resuming trimming again.

The head is very easy to adjust and I found myself doing it several times as I worked. Quite handy for trimming the top of flat hedges. On the other hand, the mechanism somewhat feels flimsy so I do take care when doing so. It was also easiest when adjusting the head if you placed the pole on the ground.

You may still find yourself preferring a ladder at some point when you can’t see what parts of the top edge of the hedges you’re trimming. I suggest checking if this trimmer is TALLER than the top of your hedge so you can angle it diagonally.

At some point, I didn’t realise the bolt that tightens the point where the strap connects to the pole had come off. Fortunately its bright orange colour allowed me to find it again easily. The triangular clip on the strap also became undone during another session but again, fortunately I was holding onto the saw at the time so it didn’t drop onto the ground. I had to spend a bit of time twisting the clip back into place afterwards.

As far as power is concerned, it’s been good enough to use on my hedges and haven’t experienced any snagging. When it does seem to struggle at cutting the thicker 10mm+ branches, I just try a different angle and they’re cut e.g. I try going from top to bottom, it doesn’t cut so I swing up from under the branch instead.

The 20V 2.0Ah battery, which is the smallest battery in its range, lasts a decent amount of time. After a full charge, it wasn’t until 3 hours of use did the battery lose one of its segments.

I got 6 hours out of it (two trimming sessions) before it had a single light left.

Overall, a cordless trimmer with good battery life and enough power to cut through my hedges fairly easily. However, as many have mentioned, it is top heavy (imagine a saw at the end of a fishing pole) so unless you learn to use the strap for leverage on your shoulders, your arms will most likely tire out quickly. Also, unless this is much higher than the top of your hedges, you’ll probably end up using a ladder anyway so that you can see where you’re trimming.

    + Easy assembly.
+ Good battery life; 2.0Ah offered 6 hours (2 sessions) before last segment of light.
+ Easy to adjust head for different angles.
+ Bright orange colour makes any parts easy to spot.

    – Top-heavy as people say.
    – Instructions doesn’t mention “remove the cap” on the head’s base.
    – Parts became loose during use.

    ottimo prodotto

  8. Nic

Fantastic product, incredibly easy to use. We have a very large garden with a wide range of trees and hedges and the combination of adjustable angle and extendable blade makes it easy to tackle anything! The battery has a pleasantly surprising long life. Jobs that had previously taken several hours to do now take under an hour. Great value for money, feels really sturdy without being too heavy, highly recommend.

  9. Fantastic bit of kit I would like the speed alterations to start with slow moving up to fast that’s the only fault I find

    Very good product works well

Mi immaginavo fosse più potente, ma sono contento,
Fa il suo lavoro e è davvero pratico per il mio giardino.

    Gute Qualität!

  12. Hypno Cafe

A mixed bag of views here.
It works and cuts well within the given parameters.
The extension is sufficient for most gardens
It angulates nicely according to need and it’s easily adjustable.
Its part of the worx ecosystem and charges quickly
    A 2Ah battery goes a long way

    Less good:
It can be heavy for some people
Blades rust easily (ensure oiling after each use)

It suits my purposes fully, but in comparison with a corded hedge trimmer on a pole, there is not much between them.
These things are unwieldy and more or less heavy.
The ease of setting up, ie pick it up, pop in the battery and go cutting is unrivalled. No messy cables and no rushed tidying up in case of rain. That is the real strength and it induces a more regular light cut than a mammoth trim twice a year.
